Hey! While you’re here, how about a rail to trail experience? WALK, RIDE OR RUN!

The trail runs North to South between the towns of Vernonia and Banks Oregon. The paved trail follows an old rail line and is approximately 21 miles. Here is where it starts in Vernonia.

The top right picture shows Calypso’s, a food cart that serves great soft serve ice cream and delicious burgers! The lake is known as The Mill Pond. It’s a mile to walk around and The Banks/Vernonia Trail is on the back side of it.

Banks/Vernonia Trail

The sun dappled path meanders through the lush forest. Wildflowers and wildlife delight the senses along the way.

(We recommend calling ahead of time for bike rentals due to varying hours.)

Trail Heads

  • Vernonia

  • Beaver Creek

  • Top Hill

  • Manning

  • Banks

All of the trail heads have parking. The Banks trail head is usually the most crowded. The Trail heads are between 4 and 5 miles apart.

The trail is open year-round but fall brings the most riders due to the magnificent Fall foliage.
